“The clear winner is techno”: this is how Vivian Schiller opened the panel discussion ‘Tech Vs Journalism: Who’s in control?’, where Greg Barber (Director of Digital News Projects at The Washington Post), Dan Gillmor (Walter Cronkite J-School), Jacqui Maher (BBC News Labs) and Raju Narisetti (senior vice-president at News Corp), spoke about the role of the new technologies in journalism and social media.
Schiller is currently Executive Committee chair at Vocativ, a news website publishing trending stories and videos. She also works as an independent consultant for organisations that want to develop digital communication strategies. She is well known for being a former NBC and NPR executive and she was Global Chair of News at Twitter. Schiller also worked with many other major companies, such as CNN, Discovery Times Channel, and The New York Times.
